Strategy
Implementation Coaching
Keeping
the CEO in the middle
In a well-run firm, the chief executive does not sit at the top,
but rather runs right in the middle, balancing the conflicting needs
and demands of all stakeholders. That's exactly where he or she should
be, in order to implement the strategy plan effectively and meet
the firm's stated goals.
An essential part of the Marriott Consulting business planning service
is ongoing coaching at the highest levels of the organization, to
help the chief executive with this often-delicate balancing act,
and to continue to give an unbiased outside look at the way things
are going, as part of the decision making process within the Flex
Diamond models.
These follow-up executive coaching sessions are built into the strategy
planning process, as follows:
- They generally occur every two months
- They can be done in person, by web conference, or by telephone,
depending on the needs and time commitments of the exceutive
- They are highly focused and intensive
- A report goes back to the executive immediately following each
session, identifying items discussed and outlining both the thoughts
in the conversation and some additional commentary from the consultant.

Quick
Problem-Solving Model
When
the Alligators are Snapping
Remember that old saying that when you're fighting alligators, it's
tough to drain the swamp? It often proves only too true even for
the most organized senior executives.
That's where the Marriott Consulting Quick Problem Solving Model
comes in. It can help you figure out what to do with all those alligators,
without slowing down your swamp-draining work.
The Quick Problem Solving Model can be used in a face-to-face consultation,
via executive web conference, or by telephone. Its decision-making
format consists of:
- Defining the central issues.
- Organizing the scope of the issues to be dealt with, using a
drill-down discussion.
- Determining sources of good ideas, and critical feedback to listen
to.
- Brainstorming to create a final hypothesis from alternative solutions.
- Performing a risk/reward analysis.
- Prioritizing the workload for this solution against other projects,
and determining benchmarks to evaluate the results.
- Deciding on the leader to delegate the project to.
- Setting up KPIs and a timeline of accountability meetings.
Following each coaching session, you will receive a Discussion Summary
that outlines the issues brought up; the discussion that took place;
the consultant's comments, questions, and ideas; and agreed actions
with due dates.

Executive
Web Conferences
Marriott Consulting maintains web conferencing capabilities for
clients who desire them. Executive web conferencing marries the benefits
of telephone conferencing with the power of the Internet to allow
participants to share information, files, and even live video of
each other.
Many clients find the web conference to be a useful, cost-effective
alternative to face-to-face meetings when time is short or resources
are constrained.
